Origin And Meaning Of Omkaraham

Omkaraham is made from two words Omkara + Aham. Omkara is the supreme consciousness of "Shabda Brahman", and Aham's meaning is "I "or "Self". As yoga is defined as the union of individual consciousness (Jivatma) with supreme universal consciousness (Paramatma), therefore Omaraham means "I am Om" and "I am supreme consciousness ". Omkara is Brahman ( absolute ), Omkara is eternal universal cosmic sound vibration represents GOD G - generation, O - operation, D - destruction and Beyond.

We have forgotten our true selves and that we are GOD in ourselves. All the power is within ourselves. We are an infinite source of joy and happiness. Yoga is the science and art of realizing, experiencing and achieving it.

There are great sayings in Vedas and Upanishads called Mahavakyas. They teach and affirm the unity of the individual self and with the supreme self, which is the ultimate goal of yoga.

Aham Brahmasmi: I am Brahman or the supreme.
Ayam Atma Brahma: This self is Brahman or the supreme God.
Sarvam Khalvidam Brahman: everything is Brahman or the Absolute.
Tattvamasi: Thou art that ( The Supreme self ).
Soham Asmi: I am he ( The supreme self ).
Prajnanam Brahman: Wisdom is the supreme Brahman.
